Rudy SteinerRudy was first introduced in the book when he came to get Liesel on her first day of school. Rudy was a very athletic boy, he looked up to one of the best racers in their time and drew attention to himself when he got older by competing in too many races and winning them. It drew attention from the Hitler Youth and Rudy's family were worried that it would jeopardize their safety. Rudy's father makes a tough bargain by exchanging himself into the Military to protect his son and his family. Before Rudy's death he started to do good, he would drop food in hopes that the Jews would eat it before any of the Nazi soldiers would notice. Rudy later dies when Himmel Street is bombed.
